Montrail is the presenting sponsor of the world’s premier 100-mile trail race: Western States Endurance Run. WS 100 is a pure guts race of raw endurance and the perfect partner for Montrail to connect with its core users.
“WS 100 and Montrail will work together to build on the over 30 years of history and achievement that runners have experienced at WS,” said Tim Twietmeyer, WS 100 President.
Loyal Montrail customers are speaking out: “This is a note to say thanks for becoming title sponsor of the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. I have completed the race 12 times with 9 silver buckles, and I intend to be there for more. You won't find a sports relationship any finer than with the Board of Directors of the Western States 100. The race has defined my athletic pursuits for the last 22 years,” says ultrarunner David Kamp from Corvallis, OR.

About the Event The Western States 100 is one of the oldest and most challenging trail events in the world. The WS 100 winds along the Western States Trail, starting in Squaw Valley, California. The trail ascends in elevation by more than 2,500 feet in the first 4.5 miles and another 15,000 feet before the finish line. The trail moves through rugged terrain, which is usually only accessible by hikers, horses, and helicopters. This run requires great physical and mental preparation by each runner, as they are faced with intense conditions and drastic elevation changes.
Community Involvement The WS100 has a strong social conscience. It has a large concern for the environment and the surrounding area in which the race takes place. Each year it also spends several thousand dollars on medical research and has funded and conducted many medical studies itself. The studies focus on different causes that will benefit those who are participating in the Western States 100 and other races like it. Every year, WS 100 also donates money to the Placer High School athletic department and scholarship program.
