Montrail athlete since: March 2008
Hometown: Bozeman, Montana; but I grew up in Carteret, NJ (Exit 12)
College Attended: Prescott College
Profession: Avalanche Forecaster/Climbing Guide
Favorite Outdoor Activity: Rock Climbing
Recovery meal after a big day: NY Strip steak
Montrail shoe of choice and why: CTC MID GTX is the pair I grab most when I’m heading into the mountains. I like the extra support of the mid, plus they’re light and comfortable for a day on the trail. The soles are sticky too and they have a great edging zone and low profile in case I have to bust a move on the rock.
Big adventure plans in 2009: Heading into northern Pakistan to attempt Kuk Sar II (6,925m). It’s an unclimbed gem in the Karakorum.
Most memorable trip in 2008: I spent 3 months in the remote and mountainous areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan helping Central Asia Institute build girl schools.
Advice for the newbies: Don’t worry about what other people think, just get after it.
Who/where do you get your inspiration from?: I get inspired by the local people of Afghanistan. They do more with less, never complain and are thankful to be alive. They make us all look like light weights.
Best State in Lower 48: Montana, of course.
Anything Else To Tell the World: Be kind and give to your fellow man. You’ll never regret it.
